Udupi, Dec 29: Udupi Urban Development Authority president Raghavendra Kini resigned on December Wednesday 29.

As per the BJP's direction, Raghavendra Kini served as president of Udupi Urban Development Authority for the past 18 months. As per the direction of party leaders on December 29, Raghavendra Kini voluntarily resigned from the post.

The resignation letter was submitted to the deputy commissioner. Kini completed 18 months as president of the three-year tenure. The party has chosen a new president for the Urban Development Authority. The charge will be officially handed over to the new president within two to three days, it is learnt.

Speaking to Daijiworld.com, Raghavendra Kini said, “During my tenure, we have worked transparently and provided good service to the public. As there was direction from the party leaders from the beginning, I have filed resignation. As much as 99% of work in the Urban Development Authority takes place online. To avoid unnecessary delay in the works of the public, additional staff have been appointed. To avoid middleman's interference to the public, the ‘Track Your File’ system has been introduced.

“After assuming the office, within three months, importance has been given for the speedy disposal of files. For the first time in the district, along with MLA and Urban Development Authority, 4.97 kilometres Ambagilu-Perampalli route has been done through Transferable Development Rights model,” he said.
