Bengaluru, Dec 30: High court upheld the acquittal verdict given by subordinate court in the case of alleged rape on Ram Katha singer by Raghaveshwara Bharathi Swamiji of Sri Ramachandrapura Math at Hosanagar.
Justice V Shrishananda pronounced the verdict on Wednesday. CID investigating officer of state government and Ram Katha singer has appealed against the verdict of the lower court.
The Ram Katha singer had alleged in her complaint on August 17, 2014 that Raghaveshwara Swamiji had raped her several times and said that she was raped 169 times. The CID officers who had conducted inquiry, had filed charge sheet against the Swamiji. However, on March 31, 2016 the lower court had acquitted Swamiji for lack of evidence.
