AAP leader arrested for prohibition violation, released on bail

Gandhinagar, Jan 3 (IANS): Aam Admi Party (AAP) leader Ishudan Gadhvi was arrested by Gandhinagar Police on Monday for violations of the Prohibition Act. He was later released on bail after due procedure.

Gadhvi was booked by the Police on Saturday after a Forensic report conducted on his blood sample turned positive.

Ishudan Gadhvi on Monday produced himself at the Infocity Police station, after a police complaint was lodged by Police Inspector Pradeepsinh Vaghela against him under sections 66(1)B and 85(1) of the Prohibition Act on Saturday.

The FIR was lodged on the basis of the Forensic report of Gadhavi which detected a presence of 0.0545 per cent alcohol in his blood.

A female cadre of BJP, Shraddha Rajput had alleged that the AAP leader Ishudan Gadhvi was drunk when he along with other AAP workers came for protest at the BJP headquarters in Gandhinagar against Head clerk recruitment exams paper leak scam. Another BJP cadre Shraddha Jha also alleged that there was a smell (of liquor) coming out from a group of AAP protesters.

The Gandhinagar police had detained around 60 AAP leaders and cadres for rioting, gathering illegally, attacking police and molesting females on December 20.

Ishudan Gadhvi was taken to Gandhinagar civil hospital for a medical test. His liquor test result from Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) turned out to be positive on Saturday.

Gadhvi meanwhile claimed that he has never consumed alcohol in his life. "I on my own voluntarily produced myself to the police on the FIR filed against me, being a responsible citizen. I have never touched liquor in my entire life and I demand my narco analysis test and brain mapping tests to be conducted, to prove my claims. And these tests should be video graphed and conducted where there is a non-BJP establishment," he said.
