Kasargod, Dec 7: On the morning of Monday December 6, which happened to the 18th anniversary of demolition of the disputed structure of Babri Masjid, miscreants indulged in stone pelting. On the night of Sunday too incidents of damaging property by throwing stones at them, were reported. Seven buses and a shop in the town were damaged in these incidents.

The policemen believe that this was an attempt by anti-social elements to disturb law and order situation, taking shelter under the Babri Masjid demolition’s anniversary. The policemen have so far made 11 arrests in this connection.

Two buses belonging to Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation, three from Kerala State Road Transport Corporation, and two private buses, were damaged in stone pelting incidents. A car that was carrying a pregnant woman to the hospital also came under a hail of pebbles thrown by miscreants. The policemen rushed to the spot and helped the woman to get admitted into the hospital.

A hardware shop in the town was damaged after some people threw stones at it. On the basis of the footage in the closed circuit cameras fitted in the said shop, the policemen took into custody two persons. Nine more were arrested in connection with other incidents.
