Bengaluru, Jan 5: A blueprint for creation of New Bengaluru, equipped with all facilities, is being prepared and the State Government will provide special grants for implementing the project, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said in Bengaluru on Wednesday.
Addressing a function after laying the foundation stone for GM and Adwitiya Group’s IT Park project in the city, the Chief Minister underscored the need for ensuring comprehensive and planned development of the City as it has been growing exponentially.
All sections of the people must get best facilities commensurate with the status of Bengaluru as a premier city, he said pointing out that the State Government has already started 4 to 5 programmes under the Bengaluru Vision 2022 programme prepared by the previous B S Yediyurappa regime.
"We want to execute all the Bengaluru Vision 2022 programmes in a speedy manner," he said.
The Chief Minister warmly appreciated the contribution of entrepreneur G M Siddeshwar over two generations in the field of trade and education. Having already established its position in Northern Karnataka region, the GM Group has ventured into hospitals to provide top class services in the health sector.
The IT Park being established by the Group is aimed at providing employment opportunities to over 10,000 persons, he said and mentioned that the IT sector was contributing 40 percent of exports from Bengaluru and helping in the State’s growth as also giving a boost to the country’s economy. The establishment of the IT Hub by the Adwitiya Company of GM Group was an additional feather in the cap of Bengaluru, the Chief Minister said.
Large and Medium Industries Minister Murugesh R Nirani, Revenue Minister R Ashok, former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, BJP MP G M Siddeshwar, Shivakumar Udasi, MP, MLA S Ravindranath, BJP State Vice President BY Vijayendra and others were present at the function.
Earlier, the Chief Minister participated in a function to bid farewell to the retiring members of the State Legislative Council held under with Legislative Council Chairman Basavaraj Horatti presiding.
