Abu Dhabi: Emirates airlines suspends flights from 13 countries

Abu Dhabi, Jan 9: As the Omicron virus scare surges, Emirates airlines has suspended passenger services from 13 countries. This includes six African nations while from seven others one way service is suspended.

According to the announcement on its official website the airline said that it will not allow transit or entry through Dubai to passengers from Republics of Angola, Guinea, Kenya, united republic of Tanzania, Uganda, Ghana and Ethiopia.

The airlines also said that it has cancelled all to and fro flights from Cote d Ivoire, Lusaka, Harare, Lagos, Abuja and Casablanca.

The announcement is effective from January 5. The airlines also said that the passengers who have already booked flights from these countries need not contact for immediate rebooking. It said that passengers can hold on to their ticket or cancel it and rebook later.

There are certain exemptions, however, mentioned in the announcement of the airlines. UAE citizens or their first degree relatives, diplomatic missions, official delegations and golden visa holders are exempted from the restrictions. They need to submit a Covid-19 negative report within 48 hours of departure and a rapid PCR test at airport six hours prior to flying. One more PCR test will be done at airport at UAE. In addition, 10 day quarantine and PCR test on ninth day after entering is mandatory for all of these people.

    It's 3 years now have been able to see my family because of covid 19 and all this restrictions. Pls for those that has uae residence visa . Pls uae should show mercy and let the travel back home and see their family and come back with the required document to engage back with their job. Lots of nigerians has lots their job due to all this restrictions and non renewal of permit to work. Pls uae show mercy

    Please UAE authorities, this flight suspension is really affecting us. Is there any way the residence visa holders and fully vaccinated once can start coming in from all affected countries. Many of us are working with a company some are business men and women. Pls let us come back to start our work so we won't lose our work. thank you so much, we love UAE. Regards

    Pls 🙏 UAE authorities reduce the restrictions, if its can only be tourist visa holders only that will affected it's ok. Most of us are business men,investors we need to see our family or appointment out there in Nigeria and come back to UAE to do our businesses If it's for the requirements anyone who wants to travel most provide the necessary requirements for to and fro Like me I have appointments on 15th April and it will take Some days Pls pls UAE the restrictions we affect us pls We love you UAE
