Bantwal: Family in Drunken State Beats Up Neighbour to Death

Bantwal, Dec 11: In an incident that occurred at Bayilanelli in Mani village near Vittal in the taluk on Thursday December 10, a woman lost her life because of the murderous assault launched on her by her neighbours the previous night.

The families of the couple, Jayanti (25) and Seetaram (30), routinely fought at night after getting fully drink, with their neighbour, Mamata. On Wednesday night too, after the binge, Mamata and Jayanti were involved with exchange of choicest words, following with Jayanti, Seetaram and Jayanti’s mother, Sundari, beat Mamata up with stones and cudgel. Mamata, who lied down after the assault in a corner of her home, refused medical care when her son suggested for it on Thursday morning. On Thursday night, she was found lying lifeless, because of the injury to her head.

Both the families are very poor, but the family members are addicted to alcohol. Puttur assistant superintendent of police, Amit Singh, visited the spot. Jayanti and her husband, Seetaram, were arrested by circle inspector, Nanjunde Gowda. Vittal sub-inspector of police, Rakshit, has registered a case.
