Bengaluru, Jan 12: The Congress party’s padayatra demanding early implementation of the Mekedatu drinking water project proceeded to Ramanagara from Chikkenahalli on the fourth day of Wednesday.
KPCC Chief DK Shivakumar and Congress Opposition leader in the State Assembly Siddaramaiah led the padayatra from Chikkenahalli. Congress legislators and party workers as well as a large crowd of people walked along with the leaders.
Both Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah had breakfast at the KPCC Chief’s Kanakapura residence along with local leaders in the morning before the start. Siddaramaiah had stayed overnight at Shivakumar’s residence in Kanakapura.
In view of the war of words and ongoing fight with the BJP leaders, especially Higher Education and Ramanagara in-charge minister Dr CN Ashwath Narayan and Home Minister Araga Jnanendra over the padayatra, the State Congress President has decided not to make any public comments and speak at the public rally in Bengaluru on January 19 to mark the culmination of the 10-day padayatra.
