Udupi, Jan 12: The National Youth Day as a part of Swami Vivekananda 159th birth anniversary was observed by Unnathi Career Academy at its office in city on Wednesday, January 12.
The chief guest of the occasion, Swami Prabhodhanandaji of Ramakrishna Ashrama, Bailoor Math paid floral tribute to Swami Vivekananda.
In the first session 'Prerana', Prabhodhanandaji delivered a special lecture on "Life and messages of Swami Vivekananda." He said , "When you study the lifestyle and principles of Swami Vivekananda, it will sanctify both the listener and speakers. When you go through the incidents that took place in Swami Vivekananda's life, it may inspire many of you but when it comes to living it, you may find it difficult. He became a saint to serve humanity at large. As he says, “I am not a body, I am living in the body. When you become human, there is no end to biological urges. Physicality needs to be disciplined. When you expand your heart or thoughts, you will bring values in ones life. You will find solutions to your problems. The ideal of his life was to preach mankind, divinity and its manifestation in every moment of its life. Divinity is nothing but our real nature."
Prabhodhanandaji further added that by studying Vivekananda's life, people could gain self identity, confidence, goal to channelise, dedicate themselves to higher ideals. Inspirations should formulate one's whole life, he advised.
He urged the youth to study Swami Vivekananda's life. It is the greatest responsibility of everyone to imbibe universal ideals, irrespective of religion, he said.
Prem Prasad Shetty, founder of Sanchalana and Unnathi Career Academy delivered the keynote address. Describing the portfolio of the academy said, "In this competitive era, skill development is more important. Hence, Unnathi is imparting skill based education to its students. It is also involved in many social welfare activities by organizing different programmes."
Sunil Paranjape, regional manager of SBI Udupi, said , "Everyone should be educated first. We cannot change the body, but when we utilize our capacity to change society, the purpose of our soul will be fulfilled."
Businessman Sakaram Shetty, Pournami Prem Shetty of the academy were present.
In the day-long programme, a panel discussion under 'Yuva Samvada' was held on the topic, "India's demographic dividend-The way forward." Students of the academy performed cultural programmes.
