Udupi, Dec 11: Education that makes youth profession oriented and leading to slavery needs to witness a sea change, said State Third Finance Commission Implementation Committee chairman A G Kodgi.

He was speaking after inaugurating the workshop on Development of educational values held at the Sri Durga auditorium, Mandarti, Brahmavar here on Saturday Decem ber 11. "Education that makes youth good citizens incultating moral values is the need of the hour," he added.

Education expert K R Hande presided.

Delivering his presidential address, he said that good behaviour in students comprising love, compassion and sharing along with practicality is the prerequisite. Good students will lead to good society, he said.

District Educational Unit deputy director Dr B A Mahidas, block education officer Nagesh Shanbhag, Kaarkada Mari Udupa Birth Centenary Committee president Jayasheela Shetty and headmistress Hemavati were present.

The workshop was organized by public instructions department, Brahmavar zone in joint association with the centenary committee and Mandarti Sri Durgaparameshwari Aided Higher Primary School.
