Mumbai: Case filed on entrepreneur for pilferage of electricity worth Rs 37 lac

Mumbai, Jan 14: In a shocking case a businessman of Wagle industrial estate in Thane misused electricity worth Rs 37 lac over past few months by using gadget linked to the electricity meter. It was detected by MSEDCL on Thursday. An FIR is registered on the entrepreneur.

An official of MSEDCL said that they raided the premises of the concerned businessman and found that he used a external device to steal electricity. An FIR is duly registered in local police station.

MSEDCL is monitoring power theft and has brought to light 3655 cases of misuse of electricity in the Mumbai metropolitan region between April and December of 2021.

The total value of misused electricity by offenders in the region of Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai is said to be worth Rs 19 crore.
