Sullia: Tension Relating to Accident – Auto Driver Commits Suicide

Sullia, Dec 14: Yashwant (23), son of Krishnappa Gowda and Kaveramma couple from Kootkunja near Panja in the taluk, committed suicide on Sunday December 12. Yashwant, who worked as an auto rickshaw driver, reportedly was overtaken by tension relating to an accident that occurred the previous day, in which he was involved.

On Saturday night, a motor bike rider had suffered injuries to his leg, in an accident involving the rickshaw driven by Yashwant. Ramesh from Bogayanakere in Balpa, who was riding the motor bike in question, had suffered fracture after being hit by the auto rickshaw. Ramesh was hospitalized in Puttur, and a case had been registered by the Subrahmanya police.

Yashwant, who stayed with his family which pursuing agriculture, hanged himself in the shed built for parking his auto rickshaw near his home. He is survived by parents, a brother, and two sisters. The auto rickshaw drivers from Panja paid respects to the deceased, by hoisting a black flag at the auto rickshaw park in Panja.
