Chinese Premier Arrives in India


New Delhi, Dec 15 (IANS) Chinese premier Wen Jiabao arrived here Wednesday afternoon on a three-day visit to India.

The special aircraft carrying the Chinese leader, who is accompanied by a large business delegation, landed at the Air Force station, Palam, at 1.45 p.m. Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jyotiraditya Scindia and Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao welcomed Wen.

Wen begins his trip to India, his second to the country, Wednesday afternoon with a visit to the Tagore International School, where he will informally interact with schoolchildren and tell them about Chinese culture, Tai-chi and calligraphy.

He will be holding formal talks with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Thursday.
