Bengaluru, Jan 21: Chief minister's political secretary and Honnali MLA M P Renukacharya, and Vijayapura city MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal, both of whom have not hidden their aspirations to become ministers, met and held secret talks. This has given rise to immense interest and speculations in political circles.

The leaders met at the office of Renukacharya in Vikasa Soudha on Thursday January 20. They were closeted for over 90 minutes during which period it is said that they had discussions on the current political scenario. Their meeting however, gave rise to several suspicions. As the meeting happened at a time when there is expectation that the ministry will be reorganized soon by dropping a few ministers and bringing in new faces, it has gained importance.

Yatnal commented later that he does not know how the reorganization will happen, whether on Gujarat model or some other model. He said that if it is done within15 days, it will be effective, as such exercises done after March will not be useful. He felt that early rejig will result in lot of development works. While saying that he is ignorant about the ministry reorganization, he expressed the opinion that Renukacharya deserves to be made a minister.

Renukacharya said that their meeting was a courtesy visit by Yatnal. He said that the two discussed ways to stop Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president, D K Shivakumar, who dreams of coming back to power on the basis of Padayatra. He added that he and Yatnal do not have enmity with anyone and that they would be happy about anyone working to strengthen the party or government. He said that they will meet national leaders if necessary and their main aim is to see that the BJP wrests power again in both the state and the country.
