Mangalore, Dec 16: In Dakshina Kannada district, two nominations were filed for zilla panchayat (ZP) election, and ten towards taluk panchayat (TP) election, on Wednesday December 15. Out of them, seven nomination papers were filed in Beltangady taluk alone, for taluk panchayat election.

A candidate each filed their nominations from Mangalore and Bantwal taluks for the ZP election. Out of the TP nominations, four nominations were filed by independent candidates, while the other nominations received were one from the BJP, three from the JDS, and two from CPM.

In Udupi district, four nominations were filed on Wednesday, one towards ZP election, and three for TP election. The lone candidate to file his nomination for the ZP election was Prakash T Mendon, who filed his paper as a BJP candidate from Basrur constituency.

December 20 happens to be the last date for filing of nominations.
