Dissident MLA Dares BJP to Expel him

Shimoga, Dec 16 (DHNS) : Disqualified Sagar MLA Belur Gopalakrishna has dared the BJP leaders to expel him from the party.

“Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa and BJP State unit president K S Eshwarappa disqualified the legislators who raised a banner of revolt against the government’s maladministration.

But the party leadership lacks the courage to expel the MLAs who were disqualified on frivolous grounds,” he told a press conference in the city on Wednesday.

Gopalakrishna, who visited the city for the first time after facing disqualification, said all the 17 disqualified legislators would work for the victory of non-BJP candidates in the zilla and taluk panchayat election. However, he did not say which candidate or party he would support.

“As the issue of disqualification is before the Supreme Court, it is not right to speak on the candidates or the party I back,” he said.

Hinting that he would openly campaign for the defeat of the BJP candidates, he admitted he had consulted Congress leader Kagodu Thimmappa on the recent political developments.

But he declined to answer queries whether he would join the Congress. “Technically, I am with the BJP and waiting for the Supreme Court verdict. I am hopeful it will be in favour of the 17 MLAs,” he added.

Regarding his future course of action in case the disqualification is quashed by the court, he merely said, “You have to wait and see.”

Speculations are rife that Gopalakrishna would field some of his supporters for the local body election and enter into a secret pact with the Congress

Ex-MLA resigns from BJP

Former legislator M D Lakshminarayana on Wednesday resigned from the BJP and also as chairman of the Karnataka Handloom Development Board alleging he was no longer able to stomach the ''caste politics'' allegedly being indulged by Tumkur District In-charge Minister V Somanna.

Lakshminarayana, who had previously won from the Turuvekere Assembly Constituency on a BJP ticket faxed his resignation letter to party President K S Eshwarappa.

Addressing a press conference in his home town, he had alleged that the taluk core committee of the party had shortlisted G T Latha, wife of local leader Kondajji Vishwanath as the party nominee for a zilla panchayat seat.

However, Somanna gave the B-form to one Sukanya, wife of a local leader H Mahesh, he charged. Somanna, however, rubbished the allegations and denied having misused his position.

    Hi Nagesh,
Appreciate your views. How ever would like to ask you very simple question- what choice do you have in karnataka for a progressive Govt? Kumara Swamy or Kharge? Suggest me one single person whome you may not blame among politicians .

problem is not Politicians - Problem is the public. If you observe Polling rate it is not more than 60% any given time - educated class don't vote or neither boldly come into politics. they are always busy criticising each other and satisfying thier egos. The rest of the poor voters need Biryani, Liquor and Sarees- So the politicians coming to power only do one thing for next 4 years , gather funds/money for the next election!! first bring in change in educated Public, mobilise better educated voters automatically everything will change! it is corrupt voters generating corrupt politicians !so stop blaming and criticising - it will take us no where .Please kindly don't feel offended . My only request to our politicians, is to invest money back in India and not in Switzerland ! allow them to function Like Industrialists, they are taking money from Profit making business , let them do that- they are smart! But the best bet for me and you will be to accept that fact and kindly request them to invest back in our country so that we get better lives!
At present they are afraid of people like you and keeping the money in Switzerland- stop ciriticising they will atleast bring back some money into our system!

Nagesh... you have hit the nail on the head. Truth is always bitter but unfortunately that is the reality.

Kannadigas need to getup from their slumber, open their eyes to reality and through the corruption out of this state.

Now Dissident MLA Belur Gopalkrishna has dared the CM to expel him. In Karnataka we are seeing since two months only problems and no solutions. This fellow will pull his legs and he will pull someone elses leg. No developments at all. CM is busy visiting Temples and touring the State cutting Ribbons and having a nice time. Whenever he needs he goe to Delhi and goes only in Helicopters whenever he has to travel inside Karnataka as he does not travel by Road as he will come to know the Fate of Roads in Karnataka. He is the HIGH COMMAND. No one dares to question him. Gadkari is President of BJP only for name sake and Gadkari cannot dare even to talk about Yeddy.BJP Government will collapse on its own in Karnataka and no need anyone to pull it down. Now again another BJP MLA Laxminarayana has resigned. Good DRAMA everyday. This is the only development going on in Karnataka. Now there will be again OPERATION KAMALA during Panchayat Elections and Yeddy will see his party wins most of the seats in Karnataka so he can LOOT more. God Save KARNATAKA from this CORRUPT CM.
