Bantwal, Jan 22: A leopard was spotted near a house at Kinnigadde, Kombila, Anantadi grama here on Friday January 21. The leopard attacked a pet dog and injured it. The incident took place at the residence of Seetarama who is employed at Kombila police station, Veerakambha Kodaje road.

The incident happened at about 1 am. The house inmates, who woke up from their sleep hearing the barking of the dog, were shocked to see the leopard attacking the dog. “The leopard tried to drag the dog at a distance of about twenty meters but the dog escaped from its grasp. The leopard fled to the forest then,” said eye-witness, Sunder.

The leopard was spotted in the night a few days ago on a nearby road. As it attacked the dog now, locals have panicked. Seetarama, who is employed in the office of Bantwal ASP, has informed the forest department about the incident. He said that the forest department has assured him of trapping the leopard soon
