Indonesia reports 2,925 newly-confirmed Covid-19 cases, 14 more deaths


Jakarta, Jan 24 (IANS): Indonesia has confirmed 2,925 new Covid-19 cases, raising the country's tally of infections to 4,286,378, according to the country's Health Ministry.

The Ministry said that in the past 24 hours till Sunday, the death toll from Covid-19 in Indonesia rose by 14 to 144,220, while 712 more people recovered from the disease, bringing the total number of recoveries to 4,123,267.

More than 181.13 million Indonesian people have received their first doses of vaccines, while over 124.08 million have taken the second doses, Xinhua news agency reported.

Indonesia started mass Covid-19 vaccinations in January 2021 after the authorities approved the emergency use of the Chinese Sinovac vaccine.

Aiming to fully vaccinate 208.2 million people in the country, the government has administered over 306.57 million doses, including the third booster jabs.
