Gujarat reports 28 Covid deaths, 16,608 new cases


Gandhinagar, Jan 26 (IANS): Gujarat on Tuesday reported 28 Covid-19 related deaths. The number of deaths are constantly on the rise in the state and within a week, the coronavirus has claimed 128 lives.

Meanwhile, the state also reported 16,608 new Covid-19 cases, taking total number of cases to 10,62,546.

Ahmedabad reported maximum 10 deaths on Tuesday, followed by Surat (5), Jamnagar (4), Vadodara (2) and one death each reported in Mehsana, Navsari, Kheda, Panchmahals, Bhavnagar, Devbhoomi Dwarka and Botad.

In terms of cases, Ahmedabad remained on top with 5,386, followed by Vadodara (3,802), Rajkot (1,649), Surat (1,476), Gandhinagar (480), Jamnagar (446), Bhavnagar (315), Mehsana (277), Bharuch (273), Morbi (254), Kutch (244), Valsad (238), Patan (196), Banaskantha (172), Sabarkantha (159), Anand (156), Navsari (154), Amreli (151), Junagadh (149), Kheda (136), Surendranagar (124).

While districts with new cases in double digits includes Panchmahal (98), Tapi (77), Dahod (41), Gir Somnath (38), Porbandar (27), Devbhumi Dwarka (22), Mahisagar (16), Narmada (13), Dangs (10).

Aravalli reported nine new positive cases.

A total of 17,467 patients were discharged on Tuesday, taking the total recovered till now to 9,48,405.

There are 1,34,261 active cases, out of which the condition of 1,34,006 is stable, whereas 255 critical patients are still on ventilator.

Over 2.43 lakh doses of Covid vaccines were administered on Tuesday, taking the state's vaccination tally to 9.67 crore.
