New Delhi, Dec 19 (IANS) Congress leaders will Sunday hold a customary procession to mark Sonia Gandhi's re-election as party president and to herald the delegates session of the 83rd Congress plenary at the tented township of Burari in northwest Delhi, a party leader said.
"It is a traditional item in the plenary functions for decades," Congress general secretary Oscar Fernandes told IANS.
Sonia Gandhi will first hoist the Congress flag at the plenary grounds after which she will be led in a procession to the dias.
Senior Congress leaders including Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Defence Minister A.K. Antony, party general secretary Rahul Gandhi and other All India Congress Committee (AICC) leaders will participate in the procession that is expected to to enter the plenary hall around 10 a.m.
The Congress is holding its plenary in Delhi after 32 years. Gandhi was re-elected Congress president in September, making her the longest-serving chief of the 125-year-old party.
