Bantwal, Jan 29: "Amai Mahalinga Naik through his immense effort like 'Trivikrama' turned a piece of barren land into flourishing agricultural land by digging a tunnel for water. To lead a prosperous life, he turned his barren land into good agricultural land," said MP Nalin Kumar Kateel.
He was speaking after felicitating Amai Mahalinga for being chosen for Padma Shri award at his residence on Saturday January 29.
“Through his sacrifices and dedicated work, he could find water on a barren land. The Prime Minister of the country has identified such an achiever. Through the Padma Shri award, Mahalinga Naik has become famous globally,” he added.
Puttur MLA Sanjeeva Matandoor, BJP district president Sudarshan Moodbidri, and others were present.
