Mangalore, Dec 21: A number of people have filed complaints with Kadri police station in the city, alleging that a person named Raj Kalyani alias Shivashankar, who had collected huge amount of money from the them for investment, had absconded.

Reportedly, Kalyani had opened KFC-One India investment office in a building on Kadri temple road in Mallikatta here. He is said to have collected nearly three crore rupees from a number of people, by convincing them of high returns for their investments. He is missing now, and his car and mobile phone were found abandoned near Infosys Technologies office in Kottara in the city on Monday December 20.

Niranjanaraj Urs, police inspector of Kadri police station, has registered a case in this connection, and investigation has begun. Raj Kalyani had claimed himself to be a resident of Subrahmanya in Sullia taluk, and he used to stay in a rented house in Urwa-Ashoknagar here. During the last one year, a number of people, enticed by his promise of high returns, had deposited their life time savings with him, it is said.

The people grew apprehensive after seeing that Kalyani had not opened his office since Thursday last. After making discreet enquiries, and being unable to locate him, they filed complaints. It is gathered that along with Raj, his wife and children have also fled from the city.
