Moodbidri, Dec 21: Christmas Utsava 2010, a colorful evening, a historical event of dance, drama, and singing began in a grand manner at Alangar here on Sunday December 19 with 3,500 who witnessed the first ever such mega event.

The programme began exactly at 5.00 pm with praising and worshiping hymns. Around 6.00 pm Fr Basil Vas, host welcomed the dignitaries to the dais. Among them MLA of the Moodbidri-Mulki Constituency Abhaychandra Jain, former MLA as well as former minister Amaranth Shetty, muncipal president Ratnakar Devadiga, Fr Austin Peter Peres, rector of the Blessed Joseph Vas Shrine, Fr Andrew and other priests of the diocese.

All the dignitaries released the doves as the symbol of peace and prayed for the peace. Then MLA Abhayachandra together with other guests cut the Christmas cake. MLA wished the people saying let this Christmas and New Year 2011bring peace and prosperity to everyone.

In his message Fr Austin Peter Peres, appreciated the organizers for choosing the place for such a mega event. He wished that all will continue to work with love and peace which the Lord Jesus preached.

Thereafter, Fr Franklin D’Souza introduced the new book “Stutisu Enna Manave, collection of Bro T K George’s hymns) edited by Fr Franklin D’Souza. Abhayachandra Jain, MLA, released the book and he handed over the first copy to the Mangalore Diocesan Catholic Charismatic Services chairman Alwin Mascarenhas. Fr Basil Vas released the new Calendar of the Yesu Sparsha team for year 2011.

Santa Claus thanked all with sweets. Fr Franklin thanked the sponsors.

Fr Roman Pinto enacted for two biblical hymns “He appa na paapava maadiruve” (parable of the prodigal son) & “Huttu kurudananna nanna baduku kettadanna” (Healing of blind Bartemeus).

Vijayendra with his team Rhythm Beats and Asha Niketan, the school for visually and hearing impaired students from Karwar, performed welcome dance “Kara mugidu swagatha” and “Sristikarthanu
Manujanadanu” (salvation by God). Baby Dolcy performed for a heart touching hymn “Tayiya
Garbhadinda” (from the mothers womb) this song about the evil of abortion, say no to abortion
and yes to life.

Prashant Raj, Anil, Anita and Bro T K George sang carols as well as various heart touching hymns. The chorus was sung by Alangar Parish ICYM youth.

The artist Bro William D’Souza, Bela and Prince, Bangalore, played the keyboard and Fr Steven, Chennagiri, played guitar.

The mega event was organized by Vincent Mascarenhas, Moodbidri, Rajesh Mascarenhas, Moodbidri, Fr Franklin D’Souza, Bangalore, Fr Roman Pinto, Shimoga, Bro T K Georege and team. And the Support and guidance was given by Fr Austin Peter Peres vicar var and parish priest of Moodbidri, Fr Basil Vas, parish priest of Alangar and parishioners of Alangar.

The programme was compered by by Fr Franklin D’Souza, Shimoga. The conclusion came with thanksgiving prayer.
