Jubail, Dec 21: 'Pirsappad-2010,' a glittering family gathering, was held recently with a colourful and fabulous ceremony at Hadeed Beach Camp, Jubail, Industrial city of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The gala was impressively organized by Karnire Relief Organization (KRO) for the first time since its inception. The Organization consists of young and vibrant people, who are working in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with the objective of doing noble activities in the socio-community services for the purpose of uplifting the needy people in and around Karnire area.
KRO, which came into existence recently, has been at the cutting edge in getting itself actively involved in social and community services, and to act as an aid organization for the underprivileged class of the society as well as community. Education, medical assistance, upliftment of deserving families and the like are some of the areas where it has started reaching out extensively in and around the village. For these noble causes, KRO decided to conduct cricket tournament and family get-together under the name of Pirsappad-2010 along with several events.
"It was really a grand and successful occasion for us as there were around one thousand people from all over the Kingdom, especially Mangaloreans, who witnessed the gala with full of invitees, sponsors and guests present. Though it was our first attempt at organising an event of this scale in the Kingdom, it received much appreciation from the audience present. It was only because of the all-out efforts and works of our all members that we could achieve this," president of KRO, Ashpak Karnire told Daijiworld.
'Pirsappad' began with Qur’an recitation by Shabeer Balkunje, followed by a welcome speech by Abdul Razak Karnire. The report of KRO was presented by its president Ashpak Karnire. KRO and Karnire were briefly introduced by Shamshu Balkunje.
Various fun and frolicsome activities like games and playoffs were conducted for the children, ladies and gents. Games like tug of war, musical chairs, group quiz, running race, spot games, tongue twisters, passing the ball, passing the parcel, bombing the city game etc were organized, which made the event truly entertaining for the audience and the guests present. Majority of the children actively participated in the events with great enthusiasm and delight.
The playoffs, such as volleyball, football and tug of war etc were organised for the men. Real Tech won the first place, while Blue Line-Jubail emerged runner-up in volleyball and tug of war respectively. Real Tech kept its first place even in the football match, while Kannangar Friends bagged the second place. Various events like musical chairs, quiz etc were conducted for ladies. All the ladies' events were effeciently conducted by KRO Ladies team.
The prizes were distributed by K S Sayeed, president of Jumma Masjid Karnire to all the winners and runners-up in the events including the presentation of Karnire Friends Cup-2010 to the winner (Expertise Industrial Services Cricketers-Jubail) in the cricket tournament conducted by KRO on November 25 and 26 at Dywidag cricket ground in Jubail.

KRO presented mementos as a symbol of 'Pirsappad' (adore and respect) to K S Sayeed, Faris Al-Shammari and all the sponsors of the event. Mementos were also given away to K S Sayeed and KRO by Faris Al-Shammari on behalf of Expertise Industrial Services.
Expertise Industrial Services-Jubail, Real Tech Industrial Services, Jubail, Saleh Ayad Al Balharith Est, Dammam, Ali M Alwan Gen Cont Est, Jubail, Stazone, Al Jubail and Amaco and Coastal Digest and others were the main sponsors for the gathering.
Kamaruddin Goodinabali compered the event.
