US reacts to Rahul's remarks, says Washington wouldn't 'endorse' such a statement

New Delhi, Feb 4 (IANS): The US has reacted over Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's remarks in Lok Sabha that Pakistan and China have come closer due to Prime Minister Narendra Modis policies, The News reported.

US State Department spokesperson Ned Price categorically said that Washington would not "endorse" such a statement.

"I'll leave it to Pakistanis and PRC (People's Republic of China) to speak to their relationship. I certainly won't endorse those remarks," he said during a regular White House press briefing.

Speaking in Lok Sabha on Wednesday on the Motion of Thanks on President's address during the ongoing Budget Session of Parliament, Rahul Gandhi said the present government's stand on China and Pakistan worked only to bring the two neighbouring countries together to work against India.

"The single biggest strategic goal of India has been to keep China and Pakistan apart. But what you have done is brought them together. You have committed the single biggest crime you can commit against the people of India. China has a plan."

The US says it values its relationship with Pakistan, the US State Department reaffirmed on Wednesday, while emphasizing that there was no requirement, as far as Washington was concerned, for other countries to choose between the US and China.

"We've made the point all along that it is not a requirement for any country around the world to choose between the United States and China," Price told reporters when asked if Pakistan and China have become closer because "they feel abandoned" by the US.

US spokesperson was responding to a question regarding US, China and Pakistan relation and not India, China and Pakistan relation. This news is from Nagpur news agency taken out of context and linked with copy and paste with Rahul Gandhi’s statement in the parliament. Is BJP ready to clarify this from US embassy in Delhi???????…….I don’t think BJP wants to score self goal here.

On a serious note, if you had noticed Rahul very famously said - "Maza aaya aur ye jo maja hai wo mai sabko dena chahta hu". He is just keeping up to his words. Now tell me who is true to their words? Pappu ya Feku?

I feel sorry for Ra Ga, if he thinks Pak-China bond has happened during BJP rule he is in a lala land. China's Road & Belt project started project 9 years ago & China's influence on Pak goes back over a decade and RaGa did sign an unknown pact with China during UPA days. Ever since USA assistance to Pak has been on decline, their move towards China is in line with geo politics.

There was no mention of US in Rahul Gandhi's statement. He was talking about China and Pak. Nor he is in ruling party. A stronger china-pak relation is beneficial to US, as india has to tilt more than necessary to them for its defense needs. Naturally, US will undermine what Rahul Gandhi says, in its own political interest. Communist China and Fanatic Pak, always had good business, but less social relationship, fearing each other on social influence. Now, it is reduced. This is concerning for India.

Best part is, BJP which has good expertise in disrupting the parliament if needed when opposition speaks, usually will be silent when pappu speaks in parliament, coz they know the moment this fella opens his mouth, congress will loose more votes.
