Jammu, Dec 24 (IANS) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Friday called the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) action against Commonwealth Games Organising Committee chief Suresh Kalmadi and former communications minister A. Raja "too little, too late".
"The whole country knows there is a scam of more than Rs.70,000 crore as far as the Commonwealth Games (CWG) are concerned. But the action of CBI is too little, too late," BJP spokesman Rajiv Pratap Rudy told reporters here.
CBI Friday raided the Delhi and Pune homes of Kalmadi as well as the Games office in Delhi, two months after the mega event ended amid allegations of major financial irregularities.
CBI said teams of officers searched Kalmadi's residences and that of an aide, also in Pune.
The agency also questioned Raja in Delhi regarding the 2G spectrum scam.
"It is only on the intervention of the Supreme Court that CBI is acting, and we hope that CBI comes out with some concrete evidence," said Rudy.
Spectrum was allotted to mobile companies at below market prices causing huge losses to the government when Raja was the communications minister. He had to resign last month due to the scandal.
The BJP has been demanding a joint parliamentary committee probe into the spectrum scam.
