RJD lawmaker charged with sodomy

Patna, Feb 7 (IANS): Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MLC Rambali Singh Chandravanshi has been charged after he reportedly tried to sodomise a youth at the lawmaker's apartment, an official said.

The victim moved an application with the secretariat police station in Patna to register an FIR.

The police said that the matter is under investigation.

The complainant said that he along with two of his other friends went to Chandravanshi's official residence near R-Block for some work on Friday evening.

"Chandravanshi asked us to stay at night. He gave a room to my two friends and took me to another room upstairs. After a few minutes of interaction, he started touching me inappropriately. When I resisted, he threatened me with dire consequences. He also threatened to frame me in a false case," the victim said in the complaint.

"I somehow escaped from his flat and reached my home. Next day, I went to the secretariat police station and filed an application against him. Chandravanshi is a professor of Bihar National College and had faced the same allegation two years ago as well. At that time, a student of his college had registered a complaint against him in Pirbahore police station."

When contacted, Chandravanshi said that the youth came to his residence on Friday but his allegation was completely baseless.

"He came to my house to raise some funds. When I refused, he threatened to register an FIR against me. He was trying to malign my political image," he said.

When asked about the previous complaint lodged against him, he said that the complainant has not been identified yet.
