Mangaluru, Feb 7: “The Hijab controversy has taken communal colours and is spreading in the country due to the state government’s indifference. It is shameful that the seeds of hatred are sown in the minds of innocent students,” said district youth Janata Dal (S) president Akshit Suvarna.
“The MLA and the management should have taken suitable decisions when the problem arose in one of the colleges in Udupi. As BJP has the desire to exploit it for cheap electoral gains, it has allowed it to grow big. Further, BJP has found an opportunity to hide its setbacks.”
“The slogan of the union government ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padao’ has become Beti Hatao now. Female students were made to sit under the scorching sun over Hijab in Udupi. If the government has the will to create communal harmony, it should immediately stop Hijab and saffron shawl row. The district administration should warn the organizations that incite communal violence. BJP should solve the problem properly,” he said.
