Udupi Feb, 7: The activists of Women Rights Protection Forum staged a protest near Martyr's Memorial Ground in Ajjarkad here on Monday, February 7 with a slogan "Hijab is our Right,"

Fathima Naseem,  National Women's Front state council member addressing the protesters said that, "Hijab is our right and it starts right from our birth. There is conspiracy behind the saffron shawl. It is not a dispute of Hijab but it is for saffron. The dispute has been there for a long time. We are not afraid of it. The dispute was started by the members of Sangh Parivar. We will provide education to the children constitutionally."

"Some powers are trying to suppress our rights. One political party manipulated the minds of people by saying 'Beti Bachao,  Beti Padao'. This issue is being fuelled just for the vote bank politics", she alleged.

"Let the Hindu boys wear scarves instead of shawls. One should respect another religion. Schools are temples. Scarf shows respect and dignity. There was no such debate when I was a student. Now unnecessarily, a communal environment is being created.", she added.

"If the High Court gives an order in favour of the HIjab, we will respect the order otherwise we will go to the Supreme Court to get Constitutionally what is ours," Fathima said.

Zamzam, CFI district incharge said, "We will not listen to anyone's word in this matter. We will never remove it and will continue with this. We must get our Constitutional Rights."

Hundreds of Women participated in the protest by wearing Hijab raising slogans.

Murshida, CFI state committee member and others present.
