Sullia, Feb 9: Minister for Muzrai, Haj and Wakf, Shashikala Jolle, said that a new scheme of subjecting the foetuses to a ritual named 'Garbha Samskara' during the pregnancy of the mother, will be implemented.
She was speaking to media persons during her visit to Subrahmanya temple at Kukke in the taluk on Tuesday February 8.
"Pregnant women will be invited to the temple by the priests, scholars and heads of Maths from within the limits of the particular temples. A day's workshop will be conducted in which religious processes like offering vermillion and turmeric powder to the woman will be performed. She said that this concept is influenced by the life story of Abhimanyu, a valiant boy who learnt certain skills when he was still unborn, and fought the Mahabharata war," she stated.
Jolle said that it is compulsory for the A and B grade temples in the state to provide audit reports annually but noted that for the last many years only four temples are meeting this requirement. She revealed that notices had been issued to administrative officers of the other temples to do the needful by December. She added that those officials who fail to furnish the report by March will face action.
The minister said that the development of Kukke Subrahmanya temple will be undertaken by using the funds generated by the temple. She said that there is a suggestion to establish authority to manage the temple which she promised to discuss with the chief minister.
"Under the 'Daiva Sankalpa' scheme, 25 A grade temples will be selected and works will be conducted on the model of Kukke Subrahmanya temple. Temple developments will be undertaken on the model of Kashi Vishwanath temple. From every district, ten C grade temples will be chosen on priority to develop them and for this purpose, ten crore rupees has been released in the first phase," she added.
She expressed concern at the Hijab controversy and wanted the people to stop sowing the poisonous seeds of hatred i n the minds of young students.
The minister paid obeisance to the Lord at the temple and performed special puja. Minister Angara, deputy commissioner of the district, Dr Rajendra K V, managing committee president Mohanram Sullia, executive officer Dr Ningaiah, Kadaba tahsildar Anant Shankar etc were present.
