Kundapur, Feb 9: “Agriculturists and sages are like the two eyes of the country and their contributions cannot be forgotten,” said Pandeshwar Raktheshwari temple trustee K V Ramesh Rao.
He was speaking at a programme to honour farmers organised by Panchavarna Yuvaka Mandala, Kota along with Raitadwani Sangha, Kota, Giliar Yuvaka Mandala, Manur Friends, Vipra Mahila Balaga Saligrama, Rotary Club, Kota Saligrama and Geetananda Foundation, Manur on Wednesday, February 9.
“We can live only because of farmers. The modern world will have to use plastic as food otherwise. The government has failed to identify farmers who work day and night. Farmers get down to protests to obtain a suitable price for their produce. It is praiseworthy that these organizations are conducting the work which should be done by the government,” he said.
District Rajyotsava awardee farmer Bhasker Shetty Manoor said that the agricultural produce obtained by farmers after hard work reaches private mills. “The government should announce suitable prices for their produce. The respect that the local organizations bestow on farmers doubles their enthusiasm. Agriculture is a noble work,” he said.
Specially abled achiever farmer Nagaraj Mogaveera was felicitated on the occasion.
