Kundapur: Policemen Arrest Killers of Basant Within a Day

Kundapur, Dec 28: The policemen have succeeded in arresting both the murder-accused relating to a case in which a labourer named Basant had been murdered with the help of a hoe, before burying him near a deserted house in Vidyanagar Byndoor in the taluk.

Mithun Gurudas (20), and Binoi alias Sukriya Mallick Shishir Mallick (22), labourers hailing from Vikrampur in West Bengal were arrested from Panvel in Maharashtra.  On the basis of the fact that two strangers were enquiring about the time schedules of Mumbai-bound trains in a provision store near Byndoor railway station, the policemen had conveyed information to the railway stations on Mumabi route. The railway policemen arrested the two accused, on the basis of identification marks supplied by the policemen here, from Panvel station. The two, who were working with the deceased, Basant, have been charged with murdering Basant in a fit of anger after a silly conflict broke out among them. Basant’s body was exhumed on Sunday morning, within hours of his murder.

Minister for higher education, Dr V S Acharya, and Byndoor MLA, Lakshminarayana, have praised the policemen for the alertness and efficiency shown by them in handling this case.
