Udupi, Feb 12: The much awaited three-day 'Nirantar Natakotsava' organized by Nirantar Udyavar was inaugurated on Friday February 11 herein Udyavar.
Nirantar Udyavaris group of like-minded people of Udyavarities. The team is making efforts to spread, and uplift the Konkani language, culture and traditions. 'Nirantar Natakotsav' is one of the their prominent event organized by the team. Various renowned Konakni drama troupes showcase their dramas in this three day drama festival.
The fourth year 'Nirantar Natakotsav' was inaugurated by Fr Stany B Lobo, chancellor Udupi diocese and parish priest Udyavar by playing Konkani traditional music instrument 'Gumat'.
In his inaugural speech Fr Stany B Lobo said, “Team Nirantar Udyavar has made great efforts in organizing this drama festival for last three years. We have witnessed few great dramas over the years here. Drama is a medium. Play writer has the ability to influence the society with his writings. Plays written by Amar Chafra were analyzing the society and used to highlight the evils in the society. We should show our interest in these sort of plays. We should adapt the message the play writer is trying to convey to us. Nirantar Udyavar is making efforts to preserve the Konkani language and culture. I wish them success."
Melwin Noronha, vice president, parish pastoral committee and Lion Godfry D’souza, president, Lions Club Udyavar Sun Shine conveyed their wishes.
Steevan Colaco, president, Nirantar Udyavar welcomed the dignitaries. Olivera Mathias, secretary Ronald D’Souza, convener and members of the team Nirantar Udyavar were present on the occasion.
Two dramas were performed on the first day. ‘Rayachi Navi Mustaiki’ by team Astitva directed by Kristi Ninansam and ‘Muza Putacho Kinkulo’ by team Mandd Sobhann directed by Vikas Kalakulwere staged on first day.
On February 12, ‘Hando Utla’ by team Astitva directed by Denis Monteiro and on February 13, ‘Sampadle’ by team Astitva, directed by Christi Ninansam will be staged. The show begins at 6 pm Sharp. Entry for audience is free.
