Mangalore: DC Eases Liquor Restrictions for New Year Revellers

Mangalore, Dec 31: As per the election code of conduct, the bars, wine stores and bars were ordered to be closed during the period of election. However, the deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district, Subodh Yadav, has permitted certain relaxation in this ban order.

Those who want to celebrate the onset of the New Year have been now permitted to consume liquor after 8.30 pm on Friday. These parties should end by 12.30 am tonight. As such, bars, wine stores etc., will open at 8.30 pm today for customers.

The deputy commissioner has reiterated that the relaxation has been permitted only after 8.30 pm on Friday, and not before. He has warned that this instruction should be strictly followed. City police commissioner, Seemant Kumar Singh, has instructed that the parties involving liquor consumption should end by 12.30 am on December 31.
