Udupi, Jan 1: In a road accident that occurred near Kallianpur Santekatte near here on Friday December 31, a labourer lost his life.
A lorry loaded with sand was moving towards Brahmavar from Kemmannu village, when it tumble down near the Highway Garage in Kallianpur. Santosh (40), a labourer, who worked as loader for sand trucks, and who was sitting atop the sand load, died on the spot after being buried under the sand. Two other labourers, who were injured, were admitted into Manipal Hospital.
Santosh, a native of Uppoor Salmara in the district, is survived by wife, a son, and a daughter. The death of the breadwinner has come as a rude shock to his poor family.
