Multi-crore heist: 3 including suspended IPS officer declared proclaimed offender

Gurugram, Feb 18 (IANS): A court of Additional Sessions Judge Amit Sehrawat on Friday declared three accused, including suspended IPS officer Dheeraj Kumar Setia, gangster Vikas Lagarpuria and Chetan Maan alias Boxer, proclaimed offenders in a multi-crore heist case registered at the Kherki Daula police station last year.

The court also ordered attachment of their properties under Section 83 of the CrPC for attachment of their properties to secure their presence before this court and intimation in this regard be sent to the SHO of the concerned police station as well as DCP (HQ), Gurugram, the court order said.

Surender Kumar, HPS, Special Task Force (STF), Gurugram, has been directed to provide the details of the properties of these accused on the next date of hearing so that the court may initiate the proceedings under Section 83 of CrPC.

Last month, the proclamation of accused Dheeraj Setia was affixed at his address.

The STF, the investigating agency, had moved the court seeking declaration of the culprits as proclaimed offenders.

The STF is currently investigating the multi-crore theft case that began as a robbery at a flat in Sector 82.

The incident took place on August 4 last year, when gangster Lagarpuriya's gang members broke into a flat in Sector 82 from where the office of a private company was being run, decamping with crores of rupees in cash.

Setia has been accused of taking bribe from another accused, Nawal, to hush up the matter.

Setia had earlier moved the Punjab and Haryana High Court for the quashing of the FIR against him.
