Mangaluru, Feb 22: The Congress party has warned of a hunger strike in support of the Hijab wearing students if the issue is not resolved amicably.
"We will hold a hunger strike in the month of March for the right of girl's education until the girls wearing Hijab are given entry inside the college," AICC secretary P V Mohan said here on Monday, February 21.
Addressing the media here, he said, "The government should have sorted this issue immediately and the court is also delaying the final verdict. Hijab is a part of the culture similar to ghoongat, kirpan or toe ring. BJP should not drag the Hijab row further for its selfish gains."
Commenting on minister K S Eshwarappa's statement of 'Muslim goondas' killing Hindu activist Harsha in Shivamogga Mohan said, "On the basis of which evidence has Eshwarappa passed a statement that Muslims are involved in the murder. Whenever a murder takes place, BJP and its subsidiaries put the blame on one particular community. It is only after the investigation we will know whether Eshwarappa has made the statement to divert public attention from from the National Flag insult issue."
Mohan also questioned local MP B Y Raghavendra in this issue. "Where is our MP? He is now in Shivamogga. He has no better job than to set fire. What are his duties," asked Mohan.
"Eshwarappa is a curse on the state and a dangerous minister. MP Nalin Kumar Kateel and Minister Eshwarappa need to be expelled from the country as they are enemies of the state", he alleged.
