By Melanie Crasta

Muscat, Jan 5: Footsteps echoed in the vast hall as, little by little, people came in at the registration counter to register for a night of fun, frolic and of course friends.

The very first year end family get together of Oman Toastmasters started with every one getting a ribbon of either red, blue, green or yellow, which put them in their respective groups of the above colours. Then came the introduction of the Toastmaster of the day by the President of the DSTM(Distinguished Speakers Toastmasters)club, Mdm.TM Clita Crasta.

TM Dilip Correa came up on stage with a bang and of course with the applause and encouragement of all the other Toastmasters and their families. He began by calling the Divisional Governor, DTM George Thomas for a welcome address.

This was followed by a dance by Miss Srinidhi Elango D/O TM Elango. One enjoyed by all as her little feet moved to big beats.

Ice breaker came next, conducted by TM Clita Crasta it involved going around to other groups and knowing as many people from the other groups within the time limit and one of them from each group came forward to write the  names of people in a Minutes time. Then they had to choose names for their groups :-

Green called themselves “Mogambo”
Blue called themselves “El Dorado”

After the naming ceremony, was a dance by TM Mdm. Karishma Gonsalves and her friend Glenda Castelino, who danced to the beats of foot tapping Hindi songs.

Another game , named autograph, was next involved every member of the group which ever group finishes first without tearing the toilet roll is a winner.

After which was bit of band time with the vocalists, Melanie Crasta & Denzil Saldahna, singing songs to the happiness of every one.

Spot games conducted by our Toastmaster of the Day were very entertaining. Then there was a balloon structure, came along to the creativity of all the teams who made hearts, Oman beach game logo dresses on children and what not.

The brainiest of all teams would win the next game, a series of questions and brainteasers were given in paper for the teams to answer. And then teams had to dance.  The best dancing team won. Lovely numbers sung by TM Babu Naryan, TM Hitin Bakshi, TM Dr. Thomas.
