Daijiworld Media Network – Belthangady (PS)

Belthangady, Jan 4: BJP has gained majority seats in TP and ZP of Belthangady constituency. With this congress and JDS suffered a severe setback. BJP won in 5 out of 6 ZP constituencies. Congress won in 1 constituency. Out of 24 TP seats, BJP bagged 19 seats and grabbed TP for the first time. Congress had to satisfy for 5 seats.

C K Chandrakala of BJP won in Naravi with leading by 681 votes. Last time JDS had won here.
In Aladangady constituency, Tulasi J Poojary Harabe won with 10642 votes having lead of 1416 votes. Dhanalaxmi Shekar Poojary of Congress was voted by 9226 votes. This is the second time victory for BJP.
 
In Layila constituency N K Shailesh Kumar Kurthody of congress secured 7763 votes and won. Harish Salian of BJP suffered setback. Last year JDS had won here.
 
Koragappa Naika (BJP) in Ujire constituency won with having lead of 8393 votes. Congress dropped to second place while JD(S) to third place. Last year Congress had won here.
 
Dhanalaxmi Dhanalaxmi Janardhan D of BJP won in Dharmastala constituency with 9233 votes. D Thanuja Shekar of congress retains second place with 7858 votes, while Ranjani (student) of CPIM secures third place with 2360 votes.
 
In Kaniyoor constituency Devaki Sanjeeva Gowda of BJP won with 8336 votes. Umavathi Dejappa Gowda is in second place, while Rajashree S Hegde had to satisfy for third place. Last congress had won here.
 
Belthangady: Taluk Panchayath
 
For the first time BJP bagged Taluk Panchayath here. Out of 24 constituencies 19 have been bagged by BJP and is towards enjoying the power. Congress this time won in 5 constituencies.
 
BJP candidates Prashanth Ashok in Mitthabagilu, Jayanth Kotian in Naravi, Sudheer R Suvarna in Aladangady, Balakrishna V Shetty in Shirlalu, Sarojini R S in Charmady, K Vijaya Gowda in Andinje, N Sumithra in Venoor, Santhosh in Layila, Vimala in Ujire, Keshava in Dharmastala, Mamatha M Shetty in Kuvettu, Geetha in Bandaru, Kusuma N Bangera in Kali, Chethana Chandrashekar in Arasinamakki, Suguna in Kokkada, Vishnu Marate in Kalenja, Jayanthi Paledu in Macchina, Sarojini Vijaykumar in Ilanthila, Manjunath Salian in Barya constituencies have been elected as Taluk Panchayath members.
 
Last year BJP had won 8 seats, this year it raised up to 19 seats. Notably, JDS which had won 12 seats in previous TP election, failed open an account this time.
