Kasargod: Auto Crashes into Truck – One Dies, Two Critical

Kasargod, Jan 6: After a passenger auto rickshaw crashed into the rear of a truck loaded with wooden logs on Wednesday January 5 at Payyannur, the auto driver died on the spot. Two persons, who were treavelling in the auto rickshaw, were critically injured in the incident.

The deceased auto rickshaw driver has been identified as P V Krishnan (42), a native of Karivellur Kookanam. The injured passengers are Omana (40), and her daughter, Reshma (20) from Pookanam Mandeyil village. Both of them are being treated at Periyaram Medical College Hospital.

The auto rickshaw was carrying the passengers to the local railway station. The wooden log loaded in the parked truck entered the auto through its front glass and hit Krishnan in the head, causing his death. The passengers too were injured because of the wooden logs. The truck, carrying wooden logs from Mangalore to Kannur, was parked by the roadside, after its tyre was punctured, it is learnt.
