Udupi, Jan 7: A series of traffic mishaps involving motorcyclists have occurred since Monday January 3, just 200 meters from St Theresa of the Child Jesus Church, Mukamar, near here, and two accidents occurred on Thursday January 6.

A motorcyclist was critically injured on Thursday morning when a truck rammed into his motorcycle. In another major collision, a Karkala – Mangalore express bus collided with an Indica car and three occupants of the car sustained major injuries. 
 
The collision that took place on Monday between a motorcyclist and a tipper truck just 200 meters from Mukamar Church, resulted in the death of a motorcyclist on the spot.  The deceased has been identified as 24-year-old Karthik, a resident of Palimar.
 
In a collision between a motorcyclist and a Tempo at Belman, about 2 km from Mukamar Church, the motorcyclist was seriously wounded and rushed to the hospital by the locals.
 
Meanwhile, the youth of Mukamar parish and neighbouring villages of Inna and Santoor, led by parish priest Fr Victor D’Souza on Tuesday January 4, voluntarily cleared the wild vegetation on either side of the road for a stretch of about 1.5 km which was presumed to cause poor visibility of the road ahead.
 
The locals also informed the Public Works Department (PWD) officers in Karkala to clear the wild vegetation along the road that has many dangerous curves to avoid future mishaps.
