Mumbai Student Held for Vulgar Calls

MUMBAI, Jan 7(TOI): A 45-year-old housewife from south Mumbai was on the verge of getting divorced had it not been for the city police, who saved her marriage in the nick of time. She was being suspected by her husband as she would get an unending stream of calls and lewd SMSes from a man.

As it turned out, her alleged tormentor was a 23-year-old student of a Mumbai architecture college, who hailed from a well-to-do but dysfunctional family settled in Raigad. She was not his only victim. The list includes other housewives and a woman police officer.

The case came to light on Thursday when Rizwan Alsulkar, who was arrested on December 31 after the police laid a trap, was remanded in judicial custody by the 16th Ballard Pier metropolitan magistrate's court. His victims were aged 18-50. Police said Alsulkar indulged in the psychopathic activity with four or six other men. He came to Mumbai a year ago for his studies and took up a job in a Nagpada-Dongri shop for pocket money, since he was not getting any from his family.
