Kundapur: Minister Muniyappa Promises New Bangalore-Karwar Train

Kundapur, Jan 8: Union minister of state for railways, K H Muniyappa, said that an announcement about a new train service between Bangalore and Karwar will be made during the presentation of the next railway budget.

This promise came, when K Venkatesh Kini, president of Railway Commuters Association, met the minister and raised the topic of extending the Bangalore-Mangalore train to Kannur instead of Karwar. The minister was on a private visit to Sri Shankaracharya Peetham in Sringeri. The minister said that he is fully aware of the disappointment felt by the people living in Karnataka coast because of the above diversion.

The minister promised Kini that he would be visiting Byndoor to lay the foundation stone for the new building of Mookabika railway station, which will have additional space and facilities, before the end of this month.

A memorandum was submitted to the minister on this occasion, to convert the present temporary halts given to certain trains at Mookambila railway station, into permanent stops.

    Good joke muniyappa ! It is next to impossible to change the route.Instead try to get a daily night train to start from blore to go via arsikere(TO CUT JOURNEY TIME) to mlore then karwar.This approach is more practical.

    Hope he will keep his words this time. We are desperately waiting for the new train introduction to karwar from Bangalore. Our demands have been neglected from long time.
