Mangaluru, Feb 26: MLA U T Khader said, “BJP’s anti-democratic stand led to disruption in the assembly proceedings.”
Addressing media here on Saturday February 26, Khader said, “Even BJP national president J P Nadda had termed the controversial remarks from minister K S Eshwarappa as wrong. But the BJP in the state are defending his statement and have not taken any kind of action against Eshwarappa so far. This has revealed the true face of the BJP. It not right for BJP to say that Congress has interrupted the assembly proceedings.
“Earlier, discussion took place in the Belagavi session, but nothing has not been implemented yet. Implementing programmes for poor, ration cards, and facilities for the farmers is BJP’s responsibility which they have forgotten,” said Khader.
When asked about proposal on renaming Lady Goshen hospital after Rani Abbakka, Khader said, “Lady Goshen hospital has its own history. The hospital required a lot of facilities. During Congress tenure, the new building was constructed. After BJP took over, not even a single bed or ventilator have been brought into in the hospital. If they respect Rani Abbakka, they should implement the project of Rani Abbakka Bhavan worth Rs 8 crore which was sanctioned long ago.”
When asked about the protest at Beary Bhavan in Thokottu, Khader said, “The president for Beary academy is appointed by the BJP government. Sunil Kumar is the minister for Kannada and Culture. So Congress have no role to play in the issue. It is a BJP-backed protest against Beary Bhavan. Fooling people is the agenda of BJP which is in their blood.”
Khader condemned the murder of Dalit youth Dinesh in Dharmasthala. He said, “The government should provide compensation for the victim. Why is the BJP silent over the murder? Not even a single leader has not issued a single statement over the murder. Police should seriously probe the crime.”
He also said that the state and central government have completely failed to bring back the stranded Indian students and people in Ukraine.
Congress leaders Saahul Hameed, Santhosh Kumar Shetty and others were present.
