Hubballi, Feb 27: Two students, both natives of Davanagere, who were stranded in Ukraine in the war torn Ukraine reached home safely. However, 13 students of Vijayapura origin are still stuck in the European country.
Manu D S was studying second year MBBS in Bukovina state medical university in Chenvisi. Sudeep Patil was also with him. They travelled from Chenvisi to Kiev in train and then by flight to India.
They said that their university is in East Ukraine which is far off from the actual zone of combat. So they could reach home safely.
It is said that three more students of Davanagere, Saeeda Habeeba, Habid Ali and Priya are on the way to India. As the Kiev airport is closed they have gone to neighbouring country Romania and from there, they will fly to Mumbai.
DCP Sunil said that 13 students of Vijayapura are still stuck in Ukraine. Out of them Sneha Patil, it is reported, has reached Delhi. Parents of students have complained that the air fare was increased by three times. So some students are still in Ukraine. The parents have urged the government to interfere and reduce the air fare.
