Daijiworld Media Network - Dubai/Mangalore
Dubai/Mangalore, Jan 9: It is a story of humanity, and of unprecedented kindness, the greatest quality of mankind. It is reiteration of the fact that we as humans may point fingers at each other, we may fight with each other, but we also care for each other.
Over the past month or so, people of all religions, castes and creeds joined hands to support a young soul - 29-year-old Santosh Nicolas who was bedridden in Rashid Hospital, Dubai for more than 20 months owing to an accident.
It may be recalled that towards the end of 2010, daijiworld.com took yet another cause in its hand, and brought Santosh's case to the attention of the masses. Dayan D'Souza, a community leader from Dubai and social activist studied the case and briefed daijiworld.com about the need to help the young boy.
As soon as the appeal was published on daijiworld, calls, enquiries, support, help and prayers poured in from all quarters. Thanks to all those who supported Santosh, specially financially, a sum of over Rs 15 lac was generated altogether through the appeal.
Now, things are slowly looking up for Santosh, as he has been successfully brought to Mangalore and admitted to Colaco Hostpital where he has been diagnosed for his injury. There are indications that he might respond to the medication soon, and both he and his family have reasons to nourish new hope now.
"This should have happened long ago, but it is God's wish, and now finally we can see our dearest Santosh. We can't bear to see him struggling, but we have hopes. We believe in God, we are sure Santosh will respond to the medication. We can never forget those who helped us to bring him here," says an emotional Severine Fernandes, Santosh's mother.
Overcome with joy and with plenty of gratitude in her voice, she said that she could not believe such good samaritans still exist in this world.
She and her entire family have wholeheartedly thanked all those who helped them financially, rendered moral support, offered prayers and assisted them through other means.
"Emirates /Jet Airlines staff was impeccable and catered to his delicate condition. We would have not been able to transfer him so effectively and in such a short time without their help. Special thanks ETA Group where Santosh was working," said his family members while expressing their gratitude.
The family also thanked Dayan D'Souza, Melvyn Cardoza and Julius Pinto for all the support provided to Santosh while he was in Dubai.
The family has made special mention of daijiworld for highlighting Santosh's case, but we at daijiworld.com take this opportunity to thank all those who responded to the appeal. With such overwhelming support from its readers and well-wishers daijiworld's mission in helping the poor and the needy is sure to continue.
