Bengaluru, Mar 2: The 12 th Edition of the three-day Bengaluru-India Nano Summit is being held for the first time in virtual mode from March 7 to 9.
As many as 10 countries, including Japan, Canada, Israel, Germany and Netherlands will be participating in the summit being organised on the theme, ‘’Nano Technology for Stable Growth.’’
Briefing media representatives on the salient features of the 12 th Edition of Bengaluru-India Nano Summit in Bengaluru on Wednesday, Higher Education, IT/BT and Science and Technology Minister Dr CN Ashwath Narayan said Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai will be inaugurating it with Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship as well as Electronics and Information Technology Rajeev Chandrashekar will preside over the function.
A unique feature of this year’s Bengaluru-India Nano Summit, in which 5 leading IT industries will be taking a leading part, is the tutorial model programme for students for 1-hour duration on March 9. Dr Narayan said the total trade turnover of the Nano Sector was US $ 75 million at
present and is expected to climb to US $ 300 million by 2028.
The minister said the combined efforts of Nano Science, Bio-Technology and Health Sciences were mainly responsible for saving lives of large number of people during the havoc caused by the Corona pandemic all over the world.
As many as 25 full-scale symposiums with over 75 domain experts are being held. There will be 40 exhibition stalls and over 4,000 delegates will be participating. Nano Medicine, Nano Photonics, Nano Textiles and Hydrogen are the main subjects of the symposia and the summit will be focusing on Start-Ups, Major, Medium and Small industrial enterprises as well as venture capital.
The Karnataka Government will be conferring Nano Excellence Award and CNR Rao Awards to 5 young achievers presently doing their Ph.D. in Nano Science, the minister said.
An added attraction for this year’s summit is the ``Nano for Young’’ and Nano Quiz programmes for the students in which 650 students from 23 States and 5 Union Territories have already registered, Dr Narayan said.
The minister explained that Nano Science and Technology were key factors in the future and the State Government is giving priority. As many as 1,500 colleges in the State have been granted Rs 200 crore from the Government’s Science and Technology Vision Group to encourage research besides scholarships of Rs 1,000 each to talented students interested in science, he said.
Additional Chief Secretary of Science and Technology Department EV Ramana Reddy, Nano Technology Vision Group Chairman Prof Navakant Bhat, Summit Chairman Prof Ajay Kumar Sood, Science and Technology Department Director Basavaraj and Jagadish Patankar were among those present.
