Mangalore, Jan 10: In a swift operation carried out by lokayukta officials on Monday January 10, Shirastedar of JMC court has been nabbed for demanding bribe from advocate Raghavendra Rao to get FIR documents pertaining to the case required for the court procedures.
P P Hegde, advocate informed presspersons that Rudrappa developed the habit of demanding bribe ranging from Rs 100 to Rs 1,000 while signing applications and documents. Advocate Raghavendra Rao, the president of BJP Yuva Morcha, submitted a file for signature and Rudrappa demanded Rs 200 for signing it.
Thereafter, Rao filed an FIR in the police station and Inspector Uday said that this case cannot be handled by him. Therefore, later Rao filed a complaint with the lokayukta, which directed him to offer Rudrappa currency notes applied with phenolphthalein powder. Rao offered the bribe and informed the lokayukta, after which Rudrappa was immediately taken into custody, informed Hegde.
This kind of shameless work by a court worker is reported first time, said Advocate Hegde. The case will be soon directed to the High Court. The Mangalore Bar Association and the BJP Yuva Morcha have condemned corruption and will hold a protest to demand justice for advocates.
