Udupi: PU Students Benefit from Career Development Programme

Udupi, Jan 12: Rotary Club of Udupi-Manipal and Kotnakatte Friends Circle, Hiriadaka, jointly organized a career development programme for pre-university college students of Hiriadaka Government Pre-University College on the college campus here on Tuesday January 11.  

Professor L G Ratimani, principal, Government Pre-University College, Hiriyadka, was the chief guest.  Speaking on the occasion, Professor Ratimani called on the students to make use of such programmes which are organized as a part of service to the student community by Kotnakatte Friends Circle, Hiriadka and Rotary club of Udupi -Manipal.  

Resource person Balakrishna Maddodi, senior associate professor, MIT Manipal, narrated how to plan and implement their time to frame their own careers and exhibited the various courses and job opportunities available in different universities including Manipal University. He also urged the student to grab the opportunity in their fields of interest and frame his/her career so that they can contribute to society.  

Nagaraja Tanthry, president, Udupi-Manipal Rotary Club, and manager of State Bank of India - NRI branch here, explained the opportunities in the banking and finance sector and the facilities provided by the banking sector such as education loans for their higher education.  He also added that students should follow the policy of savings and serve the society.  

Mohan Bhandarkar of Udupi-Manipal Rotary, Bommarubettu gram panchayat member Divakar Bhandary, staff members of Government College, members of Kotnakatte Friends Circle, Hiriadka - Ramachandra Nayak, Uday Kumar Shetty, Sathyaprasad, Sujaya Shetty and Vishwanth Shetty were also present on the occasion.  

Raghavendra G, president, Kotnakatte Friends Club, Hiriadka, and assistant professor of Welcome Group Graduate School of Hotel Administration, Manipal, presided over the function.  

Divakara Bhandary, secretary, Kotnakatte Friends Club, Hiriadka, compered the programme.  

The programme benefited around 250 pre-university students of arts, commerce, and science departments.
