New York, Jan 13 (India Post): The Governor of New York State has appointed Indian-American business leader of tri-state area Andy Keshav Shenoy as board of director on the United Nations Development Corporation (UNDC).
The appointment was made in consultation with United Nations Secretary-General and United States Ambassador to the United Nations.
United Nations Development Corporation is a public benefit corporation created by the State and City of New York to assist the UN with real estate requirements that include planning, development and financing.
Shenoy, President of Trivision Group Inc in New York is currently serving on New York’s Governor-elect Andrew Cuomo’s Transition Team.
A Konkani person, Shenoy has been politically active for over two decades, and is credited for arranging several important meetings for Indian and South Asian community leaders with several New York Governors, New York City Mayors as well as State Legislative leaders. He has served all previous three Governors of the State on a bi-partisan basis.
In September of 2003, Shenoy was responsible for facilitating the meeting between the Prime Minister of India Atal Bihari Vajpayee and New York Governor George E. Pataki to discuss bilateral trade arrangements and economic developments between New York State and India.
He is also the President of Indo-American Promotion, a not-for-profit organization, and has been instrumental in the development of economic ties between India and the State of New York.
Shenoy received the Governor’s award of Excellence in 2005, for his significant contributions to the social, economic and cultural development of New York State and the nation.
Shenoy was also instrumental in arranging a meeting between Indian Ambassador to United States Ronen Sen and Governor George Pataki, along with other US senators, and similar meeting with Governor David Paterson in 2007 to discuss and support the civil nuclear deal between India and United States.
Shenoy was Special Advisor for South-Asian affairs to former NY Governor George Pataki, and he continues to serve on the Board of Directors of “The Hugh L. Carey Battery Park City Authority” and the State Advisory Board of Tourism.
In 2006, he accompanied Federal Under Secretary Frank Levin for Trade and Commerce mission to India to promote bilateral trade relations between India and United States.
In October 2009, he went on an official trade mission to China to promote investments in New York State with Senate President Malcolm Smith, Democratic Conference Leader Senator John Sampson, and Assembly Majority Leader Ron Canestrari. This trip is now credited with encouraging several Chinese companies to visit New York State to explore business opportunities.
